What Causes Nausea And Heartburn After Removal Of Mirena?

I had my mirena removed after having 2 total of 10 years. This was on July 29th. I had unprotected sex on 8/3. After the removal I bleed for a few days, but felt fine. On Aug 6th I started to feel nauseous (even throwing up a few time) sensitivity to smell, heartburn, lower abd cramping, back pain, tired, and l light headed to name a few. I had a home pregnancy test and blood one and both are negative. Went to my doctor and said I shouldn t feel this way and not sure and maybe it was too soon for a test. Not sure why I am feeling this way. Not getting better and it has been almost 2 weeks having these symptoms

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

All the present symptoms are suggestive of gastrointestinal disturbance, GRD and so on.
I would advise you the following:
Consult your Doctor again for a proper clinical evaluation, examination and get investigated accordingly like tests of blood for CBC, liver and other organ functions, ultrasonography and so on.
Also get started on symptomatic management with a PPI like Omeprazole, Domperidone and antacids for nausea.
Painkillers and other medications as needed.
If this does not give complete relief then stool tests, further specific blood and urine tests and other investigations like Upper GI Endoscopy will help to give you the proper diagnosis and gives plan of further management.
This may not be related to pregnancy or removal of Mirena.
Take care.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant, ENT & General Surgeon
