What Causes Nausea And Heartburn After Taking Clindamycin For Tooth Abscess?

I took 300mg of clindamycine 4x a day for an abscess after a tooth was pulled. It has been almost a week since the last pill, but I am still nauseous, have bouts of heartburn even thought I have no appetite, I'm very tired and now have a rash over my stomach. I have had some mild diarrhea for the past couple of weeks. Should I see a doctor, or is this normal?

Thank you

Hi..
Can understand your concern...

As per your complain the following symptoms are a side effect of the antibiotic Clindamycin which disturb the normal functioning of the intestines by disrupting the normal bacterial flora along with harmful bacteria causing tooth infection..

You should take Proton pump inhibitor like Pantoprazole 40mg empty stomach in morning...

Take antacid like digene three times a day half an hour before meals to prevent acid causing burning..

Take more of probiotics like Yogurt as it helps in restoring normal bacterial flora of intestines..

Avoid spicy and acidic foods..

Drink k plenty of water to maintain hydration and dilution of acid..

Take a nutritious diet..

In case if the condition does not resolve in a week or so you should consult a gastroenterologist and get an endoscopy done..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
