What Causes Nausea And Low Sodium Levels In Blood?
My mother is 73 yrs old with thyroid, high blood pressure, anxiety problems. 3 months ago she had her gall bladder removed. She is now having low sodium levels is her blood. She is more anxious, depressed, nervous acting. Battles with constipation and diarrhea now. Does not have an appetite. Battles nausea. She has received iv fluids on Sat. 6/10 and today. She has an appointment with a kidney specialist on Monday. Is this the best option for her?
I have gone through the medical history of your mother and am sorry for her current health problems.
1. Lack of appetite and nothing to eat is causing constipation as no fecal mass is formed.
2. Kidney problems, thyroid, high blood pressure medication are causing electrolytes imbalance including low sodium levels. Nausea is also a symptom of these problems and medicines she is currently taking.
There are various health problems she is facing. Wait for the kidney doctor to have his word first; that's the best thing to do for the moment. Meanwhile, what you can do is to get a good psychological support to her. Make her feel that you love and care for her.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini
