What Causes Nausea And Sensitivity To Smell When Suffering From GERD?

I have Gerd and it s been acting up lately. I ve also been feeling nausea and sensitive to smells. Plus the least activity (I m active) sends rivers of sweat down my face. Is this related? The sweat could be from our humid climate but seems worse lately.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

All symptoms are related to the GERD flare up.
Should treat it immediately with:
- PPIs (eg. Omeprazole)
- antacids 2 hours after food
- probiotics to stabilize intestinal flora
- increase fluids intake especially water with oral rehydration salts
- have meals regularly

Increased sweating is due to GERD symptoms or possibly low blood sugar due to skipping meals you might experience.

Treating GERD can ease the symptoms plus increased fluids will help restore the lost electrolytes.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

All the best.

Regards,

Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
