What Causes Nausea And Spitting Of Blood After An Anterior Spinal Fusion?
Hi, I had an anterior spinal fusion c7 through c5 and spent part of my night very nauseous and spitting up blood after a fight my husband picked with me. I am very worried, Is this from the stress or the fight or something that can happen naturally after such a surgery thanks
As per my clinical experience, the amount of nausea and vomiting of blood indicates possible issue of hyper acute gastritis with gastric erosion. The reason behind this may be of relation with - Stress of surgery - Side effect of analgesic, antibiotic used during or after surgery - No administration of proton pump inhibitor to prevent gastric upset A fight with husband is very less likely related to spitting of blood.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
