Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Nausea And Stomach Ache After Having Food?
Three nights ago after getting home I had a snack of hummus and crackers. In a relatively short amount of time I got nausea, a severe stomach ache and then started vomiting. I had the chills and got general body aches in my back and neck. Even though I felt fine all day, I thought this must be the flu. I was telling a friend about this today and she told me there had been a recall on that hummus product for possible Listeria Monocytogenes. Can this bacteria be tested for? Would you recommend seeing a doctor?
As a physician I would strongly recommend that you should visit a consulting physician as your history and symptoms definitely point towards food poisoning. I advise that you should visit a physician as soon as possible to get prescribed a full course of antibiotics and the infection will be covered in no time.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Abhijeet
