What Causes Nausea And Tightness In Chest Post Inhalation Of Fumes In A Closed Vehicle Cabin?
my 20 year old son was working tonight driving a street sweeper and a part in the engine melted releasing fumes into the cabin - he feels slightly nauseated but my concern is that he says his lungs feel tight - should I have him examined tonight? he wants to wait until tomorrow

General & Family Physician, Dr. D Y NAIDU's Response
Thanks to HCM I can understand your son concern
yes nausea and chest tightness is due to inhalation of fumes coming from engine ,which accumulate in lungs causing difficulty in breathing asw ell as tightness of chest
I would like to suggest you plz keep him in a well ventilated and fresh air flow room so that all these carbon monoxide and other gases gone away during exhalation
encourage him to take more fresh air from outside , plz give him tab. pan 40 mg twice a day for 5 days ok
if not subsided he need supplementary oxygen don't worry it will subside ok
