What Causes Nausea And Tingling Sensation In The Body During A Colonoscopy ?
I went for routine colonoscopy today, I had the scariest moment of my life, when the nurse was putting in the needle for the drip I started feeling very strange needles and pins all over my body hot sweats nausea and then my hands were locked I could not feel them or unfold my fingers then my mouth froze and I could barely talk I thought I was having a stroke, they gave me oxygen and after about 20 min I was able to release my fingers and my speech came back to normal!!!! They said it was due to anxiety but I ve had surgeries before and this has never ever happened! They eventually went through with procedure
It is understandable to be concerned, it was a severe reaction. If you have used the analgesia or anaesthetic agents before then an allergic reaction is not as likely.
A side effect of one or most of the medications is possible, it is also possible that it was an anxiety reaction as stated by the nurse.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
