What Causes Nausea, Dizziness And Excessive Sleepiness?

my husband has been feeling sick for a few weeks...some nausea...dizziness ...major fatigue...lots of sleep ...syptoms similar to cold flu - but don t go away...occasional disorientation - went to put away kitchen items in upstairs closet...has gone to our family doctor...just had cat scan and an MRI is ordered...tested negative for lyme disease...(although we know there s a 50% false negative...- hasn t seen the lyme specialist yet...) - tested for diabetes...close...we returned 4 weeks ago from Cuba - not sure it that has anything to do with the symptoms...they started about a week or two after we returned...

Hello,

I will suggest you to follow report of MRI and your doctor may proceed for a cerebrospinal fluid tap to look into more details. In Cuba, the prevalent disease are dengue hepatitis A and other vector borne disease. You can request for a start of doxycycline which is effective against a lot of bugs including Lyme's disease. Other possibility is that the condition is suggestive of a viral meningitis / meningo encephalitis in its initial stage and need admission and treatment with inject able anti viral and antibacterials in indoor services. Keep in close liaison with your doctor and ask him if your patient fits into the criteria for admission.
