What Causes Nausea, Dizziness And Headache?

I am a 69 year old female who has been ill for just 24 hours. Symtoms began with nausea followed by a hot red face and dizzy, lighted headache. I have a history of stomach problems, high blood pressure and cholesterol and asthma. I do not have a fever and last blood pressure was 167/95, pulse of 76. Do you think it is something serious or just a stomach bug?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You are suffering from nausea, dizziness and headaches. You have history of stomach problems, asthma, high blood pressure and cholesterol. Headache can occur due to high blood pressure. Limit the amount of salt intake, avoid salty snacks. Stay well hydrated, take adequate amount of water and fluids to avoid dizziness and nausea.

You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP, get lipid profile done. Get liver function tests done to detect any liver dysfunction. Few blood tests and imaging tests. Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected and the severity of the symptoms. Keep your blood pressure level and blood sugar level under control at all cost. Take food that is good for the liver, avoid taking spicy oily food, junk food, refined flour, trans fat, full fat dairy products, etc.

Take well cooked whole cereals, fruits , veggies that are boiled or cooked in olive oil. take home made, nutritious food. It can be food intolerance or stomach bug. take antacids or PPIs, one stat when needed for relieve. Stay away from addictions like smoking, alcohol or drugs, etc.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
