Hi there and thanks for sharing your question with HCM.
From your symptoms, it does sound as though you might be experiencing
heartburn also known as gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD). Symptoms often include a burning sensation in the upper abdomen (stomach),
nausea, throat discomfort / lump in throat and even abdominal cramps. Your description "throwing up into your mouth" might mean acid brash, which is regurgitation of acid into the throat and mouth.
It would be best for you to visit your regular doctor and have him or her examine you to confirm this diagnosis. He or she may put you on some medication to reduce the nausea and acidity in your stomach. Here are a few things for you to consider to help point you in the right direction:
1. What is your age? GERD used to be a problem that affects older people, but now, even younger people and teenagers may suffer from it due to
stress, lifestyle an dietary habits
2. Are you on any long term medication? Certain medication like
NSAID analgesics or
aspirin can increase your risk of developing
gastritis and GERD. Certain supplements like
milk thistle and caffeine can also cause GERD. If you are on any medication or supplements, do review these with your doctor.
3. Are you skipping meals / having irregular mealtimes?
4. Are you currently experiencing a lot of stress?
Here are a few things you can do to help yourself:
1. Be sure to eat at least 3 meals a day on time - if you are feeling too bloated or nauseous from eating your usual portion, break it into smaller portions 4 to 6 times a day.
2. Avoid foods that may irritate the stomach such as oily, spicy or sour foods. If you are taking tea, caffeine or chocolate, do avoid these temporarily to allow your stomach to recover.
3. If you are experiencing a lot of stress, try to take effective steps to reduce its impact on yourself.
Hope this answer helps. Thank you.
