Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my daughter (12yrs age)she has been having nausea and pain for over 3 months and nothing seems to help the pain starts on the left side under the ribs and then goes all over her stomach, she is sensitive to smells and is always in discomfort. what can this be?
Hi, This rib and stomach pain could be due to acid reflux, costochondritis, rib fracture, gastritis, pneumothorax etc. All the above possiblites are not uncommon and to diagnose it accurately she needs thoroughly examination by general surgeon (as this is a surgical case) and all routine investigations with abdominal ultrasound or may be upper GI endoscopy if there is no muscle or ribs involvement. Treatment is mainly depending upon the underlying cause but you can give her analgesics, antantispasmodic and antacids for symptomatic relief. It would be better you go to doctor first.
