Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 81 I am taking pantoprazole and other PPI meds for acid reflux/indigestion for a number of years. Recently, I have had several times with nausea after meals. a couple of weeks lost my breakfast right after eating. Some nausea first thing in the mornings when I drink water. More indigestion recently, too, in spite of medication. Wondering what is going on?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
* When there is nausea while on Pantoprazole means the amount of internal pathology is super seeding the acid neutralizing capacity of PPI.
* The conditions might be intestine infection, inflammatory bowel issues, Gall bladder , biliary pathology, CNS conditions provoking effect on vomiting center or others.
I would recommend a systemic work up with history, physical examination and necessary work up in form of upper GI endoscopy with or without CT scan of abdomen & pelvis for further management.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
