What Causes Nausea While On Zoloft?

I have been put on Zoloft 25 mg per day. Tonight will be the third dose. I had this evening pain and low grade nausea. My question is if this is the cause. Will symptoms diminish as treatment proceeds? I did not know what was going on here. I ll ask my oun Doctor, THANKS

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The SSRIs can cause some nausea, and usually, most of the initial side effects decrease by 2 weeks.

If it is intolerable, then taking half the dose (12.5 mg/day) for 1-2 weeks can help, then go up to 25 mg.

However, this can delay the onset of the medication's benefits, but sometimes it's worth it to do this to get over the hump of side effects.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
