What Causes Naval Pain After Naval Hernia Repair?

I am 60 years female.I was operated for naval hernia repair and gall bladder stone removal in 2009. I get pain around naval once in two or one month. Some times, the pain is sever and i have to take Paracetamol. The area around navel becomes hard and i do get vomiting. The pain generally subsides in three to four hours. Ultra sound screening did not show any abnormality. Now i am asked to take thrice a day for four weeks IBSCIM 50 mg ( Torent pharma). Will this be of any use? What will be the adverse effects?I am on Thyroxine 100 micro gram/day

Hello,

You have a history of umbilical hernia repair and cholecystectomy done some years back. Now you have pain, vomiting, hardness and tenderness around the navel. You are suggested to get clinically examined by your surgeon to rule out any protruding abdominal tissue that can no longer be pushed back into the abdominal cavity.

Vomiting may also be indicative of post cholecystectomy syndrome. You are suggested to get imaging tests done to rule out any complications. You will be treated accordingly with medicines or surgery. Yes, you can take the medicine prescribed, it will help to reduce the pain causing intestinal muscles to relax and reduces abdominal pain.

Side effects of IBSCIM if taken for a prolonged period are increased heart rate, arrhythmia, excessive thirst, dryness of mouth, constipation, etc. Take small meals multiple times a day, avoid spicy oily junk food. Maintain your eating timings. For relieve you can take antacids and PPI's.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
