What Causes Neck Pain Along With Soreness And Redness In Throat?

Hi, I m experiencing pain in my left neck just on the pulse point, no sore throat but a bit of redness inside throat, neck hurts when pressed in that area or I move a certain way, just got over a cold 2 days ago. My 11 year old son was diagnosed with scarlet fever yesterday and put on penicillin, could this be related? Although I had pain in neck before he was diagnosed. Previously had pe s in both lungs in 2012 on warfarin for life, also suffer sciatica, early signs of arthritis in both hips. I am 45 and suffer anxiety also.
