Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Neck Pain On The Left Side After Taking Levothyroxine?
My daughter who is almost 12 is taking levothyroxin 125 MCG for hypothyroidism, she started taking it last Thursday and the last two days she has complained that the left side of her neck hurts? She says she can feel a bump there? Should I be concerned ?
Painful lumps on the neck may be from different reasons with an inflamed lymph node being a very common cause. She will need to have it checked and the doctor will be able to determine if it is a lymph node and if it is more than 2 cm or not. Lymph nodes larger than 2 cm may require investigations. The doctor may also ask for an ultrasound of the neck if he is not sure of the exact nature of the lump.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
