What Causes Negative Drug Test Despite Taking Medications For Several Ailments?
I had a rou-en- y surgery last summer. I had major complications. in fact I have had a total of 16 surgeries in ten and a half months.. I just got my feeding tube out a couple months ago.. I have irretractable nausea and vomiting still.. I was suffering from major malnutrition due to me not even being able to even swallow my own saliva. My question is.. I have been on pain meds for 19 years.. I have severe nerve damage in my back from having MRSA in my spine after a discectomy.. my spine was left open for a year to heal from inside out and after all these surgeries I have a softball size incisional hernia where they placed my feeding tube.. I vomit blood a few times a day.. I am now taking oxycodone for my pain.. 15mg up to 6 times a day. I took a drug test at my neurologist and it came back negative.. How?
Drug tests are of many types and it tests for various levels of medicine present in theurine. It is possible that your metabolism of oxycodone is fast and no significant amount above cut off is found in the test.
These medicines are primarily metabolised in the liver and kidney. They have a half iife which might vary in different people. In some people the medicine might take a long time to get cleared from the system and in people like you the medicine is passed out quickly leaving a low amount which is not picked up in the test. Please do not worry.
