What Causes Nickel-sized, Movable And Squishy Lump On Lower Back?
Hi, my 6 yr old daughter has had a nickel size squishy moveable bump/lump toward the bottom of er back on her spine. She states it hurts when you push on it. Doesn t complain or has she even mentioned it to me. I spotted it 4-5 weeks ago on vacation. Thought it was a bursied. I am calling to make appointment to see her Doc. I ve been checking it every now and then since I discovered it 4-5 wks ago. Seem much bigger then I fist discoverd it.
Based on the symptoms you have mentioned, it sounds like there may be a spinal cord tumor. This can be a blood related tumor or a hemangioma. Other reasons include sebaceous cyst which is when a hair follicle is blocked and then there is bacterial growth inside.
This can cause swelling, redness, inflammation and pain. It is usually treated with incision and drainage. The next best step is to confirm the cause. It would be a good idea to get an ultrasound over the lump to confirm the cause.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards, Dr. Vignan Rachabattuni
