Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Dear Dr,I have night sweats only in the chest area. My general blood work and thyroid was all normal. I have PCOs seein in ultrasound but didnt do the hormone blood work. I am 37yrs.Could anxiety/depression be the sole cause of the sweats as my dr says?On the check up she didnt do the bloodwork for adrenals or hormones for early menopause.Other symptoms i have are energy loss , weakness , stress. I am not denying anxiety just want to make sure i didnt miss anything.Thank you.
The following are few causes of night sweats: 1) Menopause 2) Hormonal imbalances like PCOS 3) Various medications like Antihypertensive drugs 4) Anxiety 5) Hyperthyroidism 6) Alcohol at bedtime
But night sweats only in the chest area are uncommon. May be it is related to your clothing. It's better to use a loose bra at night for good aeration at chest area.
My recommendations are as follows: 1) Decrease your stress levels with the help of meditation and yoga 2) Get treated for PCOS. 3) Weight reduction also helps avoid night sweats 4) You can take anti anxiety medications like tab. Lexapro once daily.
If your night sweats don't control even after 1 week of trying above methods, please do contact a physician.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
