What Causes Night Sweats?

My 18 month old is having excessive sweating, mainly when he sleeps. He is also having trouble chewing his food, random fevers (mainly at night) and he is breathing too fast. He had a physical about 1 month ago and doctor said everything was fine, but should I take him to the hospital?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Many factors, including infections, hormonal imbalances, certain medications, and certain medical conditions such as tuberculosis or lymphoma, can cause night sweats.

Given your 18-month-old is having multiple symptoms, it is best to consult a pediatrician as soon as possible for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan. In particular, the combination of night sweats, difficulty chewing food, fevers, and fast breathing are concerning and warrant a medical evaluation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
