Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I'm just looking for some advice really.. I've noticed my son has started to sweat ALOT at bedtime when he's asleep.. He doesn't do it during the day when he has naps, he is normal temperature maybe even very slightly cold to touch but his temp is perfect. He sleeps on a vest as our house is rather warm anyway and especially with summer coming up. We have had SIDS in our family, my sister at 6 weeks old, and apparently after reading up about it sweating can be a sign of SIDS, I'm absolutely terrified, Any advice would be very much appreciated, thank you.
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. SIDS or severe immune deficiency syndrome doesn't usually present with symptoms like increased night sweats. Frequent infections and persistent fever etc are common symptoms. But the persistent sweating shouldn't be ignored because this could be the sign of some underlying thyroid disorder or anxiety. Get his thyroid function tests done to rule out hyperthyroidism. In hyperthyroidism individuals present with sweating, tremors and other symptoms of hyperthyroid states.
Once thyroid abnormalities has been ruled out then other possible reason for his symptoms is anxiety. Get an appointment from a psychiatrist and get him evaluated for anxiety.
Thanks, Hope this helps you. Take care
