What Causes No Bowel Movement After Drinking Magnesium Citrate?
Hello, I am preparing for colonoscopy tomorow at 10 AM. Liquid diet all day, then, as instructed, I drank about 12.5 ounces of Magnesium Citrate, four hours ago. Nothing happened so far. Should I worry about my colon preparation for tomorrow s procedure? I have been instructed also to drink another 12.5 ounces at 4 AM. When should I expect to see the effects of Magnesium Citrate? Thank you.
You might not have taken enough liquid orally, hence you might not have gotten the desired results. Take adequate clear liquids (See through) liquids till bed time and take 4a.m., dose as advised, followed by 5 ounce clear liquid (See through) diet. Keep taking liquids till three hour before your procedure. I think that should serve the desired results.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Satnarain Bansal, General & Family Physician
