I have a curiosity question. I just had a CT scan and was told I have nodules in my lungs. Is there an easy explanation as to what that means? I just had PE s in both lungs which are now dissolved. No mention of nodules were made prior to the current CT. WOndering what causes them. t
Thanks for your question on HCM. Since you had pulmonary embolism with new developing nodules on CT thorax, we need to rule out following possibilities. 1. Connective tissue diseases (CTD) 2. Malignancy 3. Tuberculosis 4. Sarcoidosis. So better to consult pulmonologist and get done bronchoscopy and BAL (Bronchoalveolar Lavage) analysis to rule out above mentioned causes. If everything is normal then get done repeat scan after 6 months to see whether nodules are increasing, static or decreasing in size.
