What Causes Non Responsiveness With A Fixed Stare And Glassy Vision?
A friend experienced a strange episode during a recent flight. He is a male, age 60, in good physical condition. he became non responsive, with a glassy, fixed stare. His wife noted a yellowing of his eyes. After assistance from the flight crew and administration of some orange juice, he became responsive, but had no recollection fo the event. What are the possible causes of this?
Thanks for writing to Health Care magic, I am Dr , Muhammad Ahmad , I have read your question closely, I understand your concern and will be helping you with your health related problem.
This might be an episode of what we call as absent seizures, although if a person is patient of absent seizures he would probably start having it since the childhood but there have been examples that people started to get them in later ages. I would suggest that the friend should get a neurologist opinion regarding this problem , these days treatments are available which are quite effective and have great results. Your doctor might want to run some tests like sleep studies and EEG which will further help in the diagnosis.
Generally speaking one such episode is not usually much of an alarm sign but if this keeps happening this needs to be corrected.
I hope this answered your question, If you have more queries I am happy to answer you. Regards.
