What Causes Non-viral Hepatitis?

I was recently told that I have non-viral hepatitis (chemical induced). I had pain in the upper right side of abdomen (assumed swollen liver). It has subsided now that I cut out processed foods and alcohol, but my legs are a little heavy and I seem to be retaining a little fluid around the knee area. I have read that could be a sign of cirrhosis? I had an ultrasound today, but am curious as to what the next step should be? Thanks.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms can be related to cirrhosis. I recommend to check the liver enzyme level and bilirubin level. I also suggest to do an abdominal ultrasound for further evaluation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
