Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
2 year old toddler bumped his head underneath our kitchen counter. He jumped and banged his head hard. He cried for about a minute straight and this his nose started bleeding, it has stopped but some blood came out of his nose. Should I take him to the ER?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
He might have injured his nasal bone and thus caused bleeding. However nasal bleed following a trauma have to be evaluated as it can be a sign of head injuries and facial bone fractures. It is better to take him to ER and get CT scan done to rule out any bleed. As of now pinch his nose tightly (in case of active bleed only) and apply ice packs.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain
