What Causes Nose Bleeding And Dizziness?

I m worried cause I had 5 episodes already of excessive nose bleeding the last ones was yesterday30, Feb 10,about 2pm, then about 9:30pm. I tried to stop it by dipping cotton balls on a small bowl of vinegar & put it on my left nostril (episodes always in my left nostril.) I felt dizzy & light-headed. What shall I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

From your medical history, I think of possible fragile blood vessels in your nose. This might cause you nasal bleeding (epistaxis). I suggest consulting further with ENT specialist for further evaluation.

For the moment, I advise to monitor your blood pressure (bp) and record the results for future reference.

Discuss with your caring doctor about my advice and ask to run a few diagnostic tests:

- complete blood count to rule out anaemia
- check iron levels and deposits
- measure vitamins like Vit B 6, 12, C, D, calcium, etc. to rule out related deficiencies.

When you have a bleeding episode from the nose, should bend downward with facing the ground. Apply pressure on your nose , on the area when the hard bone starts.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
