What Causes Nose Bleeding In A Toddler?

My 3 years old son has been having regular nose bleeds, 4 in one day and have been heavy also a long bright red jelly thing was in his nose (I don’t know if it was a clot) he’s been more tired lately and has a rash on his face. I’m obviously going to take him to the doctor tomorrow. I’m just really worried and wondering what is wrong. He’s also got the cold and coughing a lot and waking up at night when he doesn’t usually.

Hello,

Epistaxis in children may be due to body heat dissipation and upper respiratory tract infections. If there is a clot your baby removes it, which cause again bleeding and a vicious cycle of it continues. Best way to treat such condition is to soften that clot with water or oil and then remove it daily in order to not hurt your child and bleeding will stop. Nasal decongestant drops can use if necessary. Proper hygiene and maintenance solve your problem.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
