Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello sir , i am taking omnacortil 30mg from last 2 weeks . i have a problem of ulcers. So my doctor prescribed to take this tablets for weight gain . from past week onwards i am suffering from cold. Now during a cough a blood comes on my right side nose with that cough waste. Is it any severe problem. I consult my doctor he said that cough mix in your blood on head. Its not any problem. But a scared on it. Please give your suggestions based on that .
Omnacortil is a cortico-steroid which causes immuno-suppression on long term. These drugs cause dryness of the nasal mucosa. Anterior part pf the nose has more delicate blood vessels. During common cold, there is inflammation of the nasal mucosa which make the vessels more delicate. Cough increase the pressure on these vessels lead to nose bleed.
Nose bleed from the anterior nose is self limiting which subsides shortly on its own. While bleed from the posterior nose is significant needs immediate medical attention. Avoid too much pressure during cough and sneeze. Taper the dose of cortico-steroids. Discuss with the physician about the side effects of the drug.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pradeepraj, General & Family Physician
