General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Nose bleed occurs due to mucosal injury inside the nose at the region called 'little's area.' This area is known to bleed whenever there is infection or dryness is present, which makes the blood vessels fragile. In such circumstances, if you are in a habit of nose picking, you might injure blood vessels. In such an episode, kindly pinch your nose for about 5 minutes and bend forward while breathing through mouth.

You can prevent such bleeding by keeping your nose moist and preventing nose picking. If the bleeding occurs repeatedly, then it needs to be evaluated and treated. Kindly consult ENT specialist in such an episode for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
