Hi, my 4 1/2 year old stepson has gotten two nose bleeds this week in his right nostril. To our knowledge, this has never happened before. He is not complaining about it and the blood flow is not rapid...just sort of crusty around his nostril. Is there an explanation for this and should we be concerned??
Hi, thanks for the query. In small children , finger nail trauma while itching is common which result in crusty blood stain area in nostril. In nostril some infection must be present which causes itching. So i advice you to cut all nails of your son , maintain proper hygiene of hands. Also he needs antibiotic ointment , saline nasal drop & antihistamine. Here my suggestion is that you should consult your ENT doctor for thorough examination and treatment. Hope above information helpful to you , take care. Regards - Dr KK ( Karade )
