What Causes Numb Area On Outer Part Of Right Thigh?
I am a 49 yr old female. I have always been fairly healthy and active. Recently (past couple of days), I noticed I have an area the size of a softball on the outer part of my right thigh just above the knee that is numb. The left side is fine. It doesn t impair me in anyway, I was just concerned. Should I be worried?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, Thanks for asking I understand your concern. The numbness you have seems to be compression/ injury to nerve sulply of the area concerned. it can be - - Local trauma/ fall on the part causing swelling of the part, - local femoral nerve pressure at sciatic notch, hip joint - Pressure at lumber spine due to spondylosis. PLease do not neglect it... for it can be beginning of some major issue . You should consult an orthopedic doctor, get Xray/ MRI/ CT scan done to pin point the cause & start with specific physiotherapy to relieve you. Thanks.
