I am 47, female and have had issues with my l5s1 level for about 30 years. I have been treated for subluxations and misaligned facet joints numerous times, along with my pelvis being twisted with one hip higher than the other...simultaneous issues. Over time my issues with my spine became a case in which I was in constant pain the entire length of my spine and with neurological issues.
I had cervical spine surgery in December 2013 to correct severe stenosis of my spine and decompress multiple nerves. I have advanced degeneration at l5s1 and suffer from extreme pain sitting and cannot stand long or walk far due to pain. I had an epidural steroid injection that went awfully. The fluoroscopy imaging shows retrolisthesis at l5s1 and advanced disc height loss. The disc is gone. I am relatively certain that my spine is more unstable there than it was before the disc lost height. I can make it move and shift just moving in bed...and, yes, I can change the amount of pain I have in my legs change a little by shifting my pelvis. I cannot walk normally and have hobbled around on my right leg for years.
Am I causing more problems for myself by trying to push through the pain(from my braline to my toes)? Yes, I have numbness, tingling, pins and needles, and lots of pain andweakness, especially with my right leg. I have received no input on what I should and shouldn't do since finding the retrolisthesis or what it means to me and my future.
