What Causes Numbness And Chronic Pain In The Body After A Lumbar Spine Injury?

I have had a severe lumbar spine injury of L2, L3, L4, L5, T1, T2. I have PTSD, chronic panic and anxiety attacks. This has been going on for three years soon here. I have never had so much weakness, numbness, chronic pain, very heavy legs, cramping, and when I try to lay down in bed or sit with pressure on the lower back I need to urinate immediately, I can get up up to 10 times a night. I am still on crutches and have such difficulty lifting my legs. I am now worried as now doctor can fully explain what is happening to me. My Neurogurseon does not believe the leg pain is associated with the back injury. I have had three MRI that showed nerve entrapment. I have no quality of life I am 58 years old and used to be very active, this is not possible what so ever now. I need answers please oh I do not have a bladder infection, but I am losing my sodium and cortisol in a 24 hour urine test and have increased my salt and sodium intake, maybe this is causing the high blood pressure as high as 210 over 125 with 102 heartbeats. I really need help. Thank you so much for your time and help. Suzanne

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I have gone through your query. It may be due to nerve compression.

For further assessment you may require MRI back, nerve conduction studies after spine surgeon consultation.

For pain you can take tablet acetaminophen.

You may require tablet Pregabalin after consultation.

You may require surgical intervention after surgeon consultation and investigate.

Restrict your movements.

Use support while walking

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale, General & Family Physician
