What Causes Numbness And Pain Above The Right Knee?

I have been experiencing numbness, stinging, above my right knee (replacement in 2014), in either a muscle or nerve. I took Prednisone for 2 months, thinking nit would calm one of these things. However, still have quite a bit of pain daily. Am seeing a physical therapist, doing some exercise, and water aerobics 4 mornings a week. Really tired of 3 months of pain. Can you offer any solutions. Do you believe in chiropractors? Thank you. I am 85 years old.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

This topical feeling of numbness could be due to temporary compression of nerve fibres due to muscle spasms. Doing muscle stretching exercise and taking methylcobalamin supplements will be helpful. If it persists, it is better to get it examined by orthopedician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
