What Causes Numbness And Pain In The Left Thigh?

I am having numbness in my left thigh when I stand for 20-30 minutes. Then there is pain right below my knee and down my chin. It goes into my ankle and the very top of my foot gets a knot on it. Then my foot burns on the bottom and pain shoots out my toe. Should I see a doctor?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Yes, you should consider seeing a doctor for assessment.

Abnormal sensations are most commonly due to neuropathy which is abnormal function of the nerves.
It can be temporary or permanent and there are different possible causes.

The most common causes are:(1)diabetes
(2) trauma to the nerves . This can occur in the spine eg from arthritis or can occur at another point along its path to the thigh and legs
(3)infection such as shingles
(4)low vitamin b12 or low folate
(5)liver or kidney disease
(6)abnormal levels of vitamin b6
(7)thyroid disease
(8)stroke or ms

In some cases the cause is not found. To find the cause for you, you may need to consider blood tests and imaging to take a look at the back and pelvis.
The blood tests would be to identify if any of the above are present.

There are medications that can be used for neuropathy but specific treatment would depend on the exact cause.

Medications such as amitriptyline, gabapentin, tegretol, lyrica, cymbalta-- are used for neuropathy

I hope this helps
