What Causes Numbness And Pain In The Testicle After Hernia Repair Surgery?

Hernia repair left side 6 weeks ago now. I have numbness below the incision and toward the groin / left testicle at times tingles sharply. Not real pain but discomfort but it is enough to bother me as is the numbness. Also I have a feeling of as if something poking me in groin area occasionally, about 5 inches below navel. Is this normal recovery. 50 yr old male no serious med history and in very good health

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

During surgery , as a result of the incision, there may be at least some small trauma nerves in the area of the surgery.

If the trauma was minor then the nerve may repair itself though this can take months.
If a major nerve was completely severed then, repair may not occur but this is not a common complication with hernia repair.

I hope this helps
