What Causes Numbness And Soreness On The Arm After An Insect Bite?

i was bitten by an insect ,i suspect to be a cricket. i did not feel the bite until the area of the back of my hands felt some numbness , pin pricks, soreness when rubbed lightly, initially around the bitten area then it spread through my forearm. i did tourniquet fearing that the sting might spread to my heart and brain. i was bitten 15hours ago and i still feel soreness, pricking pins and sting. thank you for your time doctor!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to side effects of an insect bite. I suggest using cold compresses at the injection side and Benadryl cream for local application. I also recommend using anti histamines such as Cetirizine 10 mg in case of itching. If the symptoms continue, I suggest to go at the emergency room.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
