What Causes Numbness And Swelling On The Nose?

Good evening. I have a numbness and a little swelling on the left side of my nose. Once in awhile I would feel a sharp pain and it would feel a little numb. Just wondering what it could be or if its something I need to worry about. I have noticed the left side of my nose has a lump than the other side for 3 months now.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome.

The lump will have to be looked into, but the most common causes for lumps is folliculitis which is the inflammation of the hair follicle resulting in pain and swelling, and sometimes even infection. Antibiotic coverage and warm compresses to the region usually help. But this is only an assumed diagnosis without a physical evaluation, and so I would recommend a visit to your doctor for a more concrete diagnosis and treatment accordingly. But in the meantime, you can go about the application of warm compresses to the region.

Best wishes.
