What Causes Numbness And Tingling In Mouth And Face Along With Heartburn?

Hi, I had numbness and tingling (almost like Novocain) in my mouth and the right side of my face. It lasted for about 4 hours then went away. I'm not sure if it is related to this, but I have had severe heartburn daily for weeks. I am seeing my doctor tomorrow for that.

Hi dear ,

The symptoms you mention in query are pointing towards a condition known as acid reflux ( gastrointestinal reflux disease ) . This occur due to dysfunction of upper esophageal sphincter . Due to which the acidic content of stomach come upto pharynx , which causes such symptoms .

I would suggest you to :-

Avoid spicy an heavy food specially at night .

Avoid caffeine containing products .

Take light walk after every meal .

Keep your head elevated while sleeping .

Consult gastroenterologist for proper diagnosis .

Doctor may order endoscopy or X-ray of digestive system and prescribe medicines like ranitidine and omeprazole .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
