What Causes Numbness And Tingling Sensation In Calf And Foot?
My mam has numbness and tingling down her calf and in to her foot it is a pins and needles sensation. Her leg and foot are very cold. She is having difficulty to walk as it is painful and it has been gradually getting worse for one and a half weeks Please can you help

The symptoms are in keeping with peripheral neuropathy,this refers to abnormal function of the nerves outside of the brain and spinal cord.
It can be due to different causes such as: (1) vitamin b12 or folate deficiency- blood tests can check these levels
(2)diabetes- should be screened for diabetes if she is not a known diabetic
(3) trauma to the nerves
(4) liver disease
(5) kidney disease
(6)infections such as shingles
(7)side effects of medications- would need to review any medications being used
(8)exposure to toxins
(9)idiopathic- cause not known
(10) hormonal causes or autoimmune disease
A thorough history, examination and blood tests would help to determine the cause.
There are medications that can help eg lyrica, tegretol, amitriptyline, gabapentin,
