What Causes Numbness And Tingling Sensation In The Arms After An Injury?
Hi, I was in a car accident 10 days ago and went to an urgent care center for neck/back pain where they said I had muscle strain and spasm in my back and neck. The pain has mostly subsided but my arm had a pretty severe numb/tingly feeling like it was falling asleep all day about 4 days ago and since then has felt the same with varying intensity. My feet also started feeling like this about a day after my arms. I have scheduled an appointment with my doctor, but am wondering if this is a more urgent matter since the numbness almost seems to be Wspreading. Thank you.
Numbness or tingling in the extremities can be indicative of nerve damage that is impinging into the nerve root or spinal cord. You should get physically examined & get all Nerve Conduction tests along with MRI or EEG if needed.
The treatment can be done with medications or surgery if required. If you are diabetic, control your sugar levels.
In the meantime take Vitamin B(B6, B12) supplements with Folic acid & minerals. Get investigated, evaluated & treated at the earliest.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
