What Causes Numbness And Tingling Sensation In The Hands?
WHEN I WOKE UP FROM THE NIGHT S SLEEP, I WAS LAYING ON MY HAND WHICH WAS ASLEEP (PINS & NEEDLES) WHICH HAPPENS, BUT MY SIDE OF MY MOUTH WAS NUMB AND TIGLING AS WELL...THE SAME IT WOULD FEEL IF YOU WERE NUMB BY A DENTIST FROM A SHOT OF NOVICANE. IS THIS NORMAL FOR THE SIDE OF YOUR MOUTH TO GO NUMB?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Tingling sensation what you are experiencing in hands could be due to following reasons: 1. Vitamin deficiency. 2. Calcium deficiency. 3. Cervical disc compression due to cervical spondylitis. Kindly supplement with multivitamin capsules along which contains vitamins like Thiamine, Vitamin B12 and Pantothenic acid, which are essential for peripheral nerve functioning. Also, supplement with calcium by medication and consume calcium rich foods. Gradually, you should be able to overcome the symptoms. Sometimes, such numbness due to nerve compression could spread to lower jaw and side of your mouth. If the symptoms does not subside, you need to take x-ray of the neck and consult Orthopedician for clinical evaluation and appropriate management. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best. Regards, Dr.Ashakiran.S. MBBS., MD.
