What Causes Numbness And Tingling Sensation In The Right Arm?

I am asking for my Husband he is 38 years old and we believe he has a herniated disk in his neck with the pain going through his right arm he said it is numb and tingling, he has had one before years ago but not as painful as this one and, never down his arm. We have naproxen and vicodin from the last time he had this but as with the last time he says it doesn t even touch the pain it only makes him in his words goofy feeling. What should we do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Sorry to hear about his pain. The history looks very likely to be caused by the pinched nerve.

Many times the pain is not helped by simple painkillers, so while he can use naproxen after a meal for little help.

I understand he should be taken to his doctor as the pain may be very much helped by physiotherapy, and certainly more strong pain killers like gabapentin, and opioids, if needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
