Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Numbness And Tingling Sensation In The Upper Abdomen?
I have increasing numbness and tingling sensation on the right side of my upper abdomen. The feeling runs right along the lowest rib on the right side. There is no pain and the sensation does not seem dependent on whether I am hungry or full, or if I have recently consumed anything. I noticed it about 4 months ago and it would appear for a few minutes every few days. Now I notice it a few minutes every hour on a daily basis. I am 52 y.o. male, 5 11 , 195 lbs. My initial thought was that I am a bit over weight and most of it sits in my stomach. It feels like the tissue along my sternum my be stretching and that I should just loose some weight. Also, when I suck in my gut the feeling usually goes away. Not sure if it is of concern or if I should look at other things or see my primary care physician, Thanks!
I don't believe that this is related to a stomach issue. It seems more like cholecystitis and cholelithiasis that means gallbladder stones and inflammation.
You may need to do liver enzymes and also an abdominal ultrasound. Probably you may need antibiotics or intervention.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
