Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My cheeks feel really numb after smoking some meth. Is this normal? I dont feel like I should go to the doctors because it doesn t feel that serious but I just wanted to ask to make sure its a normal thing to have body parts go numb after a while of smoking it.
Numbness in body may be due to vaso-constrictive effect of meth resulting in reduced blood flow to the affected area causing such type of symptoms. Normally, it goes itself after some time, with the effect of Meth going away. Time taken for numbness to go away may depend on the dose of meth taken inside the body as well as many other factors like different effect in each individual and it may also depend on the condition of your heart as well as of your arteries.
Numbness effect of Meth smoking on cheeks may be due to the fact, that during the act of smoking, the vessels of mouth or cheeks are nearest to the effect of meth and therefore having maximum and earliest effect of vaso-constriction and numbness in cheeks. Usually, these are self resolving symptoms, but sometimes it may also forecast some serious heart disease or disease of blood vessels etc.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
