What Causes Numbness In Chin In Between The Lower Lip And Jawline?

Woke up Friday morning with my entire chin feeling completely numb. By late Friday night the numbness was gone from my right side and now is just on left from the middle of my bottom lip line down my chin to my jawline. I could describe it as being novacaine that is wearing off...but, isn t going away. When is the right time to see a doctor and what kind of doctor to see? Thanks.

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have numbness in chin in between the lower lip and jawline after novacaine injection this can be the effect of novacaine or due to nerve injury which is causing numbness . The numbness over the cheek, lip, chin and mouth can be because of the pressure over the nerves by tooth abscess. Nothing to be panic, consult dentist and get it evaluated. If it is because of the tooth abscess, then go for IOPA and root canal therapy. If it is because of the nerve injury secondary to trauma then you need to take nerve regenerating drugs like Vitamin B6 and B12. You can take Neurobion tablet if you are not allergic to it. Do warm saline gargles.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
