General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Numbness in foot and cramps are indicative of nerve compression could be due to spondylitis at other levels than L5 or pressure with screws created by postural changes occurring in these 10 years time. I would suggest a consultation with your spinal surgeon and MRI of back to pin point the cause and get a specific treatment. By the time, you can do extension exercise learnt under expert care. Add over the counter vitamin B12 in your diet and pain medicine as per need.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
