What Causes Numbness In Fingertips And Body Stiffness With Fever?

39 year old daughter woke up with stuffiness and just thought it was her allergies. All 10 fingertips became numb for 30 minutes and then gradually went away. Then became feverish with 101.3 fever. Took ibuprofen and now is getting headache. No more numbness though. What could this be?

OB and GYN Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

I believe it is because of high-grade fever. For now give her paracetamol 500 mg every 8 hourly until the fever subsides and go for a CBC to check for any infection, no need to start antibiotics for at least 5 days.

If fever subsides then nothing is to be done, but if it persists then go for a Widal test, malaria and dengue serology for further management. Cold sponges can also help in lowering high-grade fever.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Naira Jahangir, OB and GYN Specialist
